Am i starting to get an eating disorder? |
I am 14 and i am about 5ft 5, i weight about 7stone. I am staring to get obsessed with thinking i am overweight. I find myself always weighing myself. I find myself starving myself during the day at school but when i get in i end up pigging out and feeling really guilty. After this i sometimes consider making myself sick. I have only done this once though. I am worried incase i get an eating disorder but i really do want to be a bit thinner. Most of my friends are the same weight as me but i want to be thinner than them. I can sometimes starve myself but i can't keep doing it i always end up eating. My family always say i look too skinny and people at school say i'm skinny and i like being called skinny. It makes me feel good about myself. But i get paranoid about my legs. I get paranoid incase they start to touch in the middle or anything. I don't think i would get an eating disorder because i like to eat but i just want to know if it is possible that i'm beginning to get one? Help. 14 pounds = 1 stone, so 7 stone is 98 pounds i think ? x wow your silly=] I used to be anorexic, so i know what you're going through. It seems that you are starting to get one. If you like being skinny, do it the healthy way: eat lots of fruits and vegetable and work out. It is better to look fit than look extra skinny. Since the summer is coming up, you can start eating healthy and working out during summer vacation because that is what I am going to do. And what does 7 stone mean? Since you are already skinny just eat healthy foods. There are healthy ways of losing weight. Instead of starving yourself eat fruit and salads, don't eat bread or pasta. You're going to get sick if you keep doing what you're doing and you will end up with an eating disorder. You are crazy for wanting to be so skinny. I think 120 is the a great weight for you anything under 115lbs would be gross. Yeah it does sound like you're at risk of developing one. I'd sueggest going to a doctor to get help to ensure this doesn't happen. Even if this seems wrong since you don't see it as a problem yet, it's worth doing this before it becomes a problem. Eating disorders can ruin your life so you really should do all you can to stop it developing. think this: you are still growing, your body needs nutrients and regular meals. starving yourself will only lead to growth defects. just eat what you want (within reason), make sure you are getting the recommended no of calories per day from good foodstuffs, but dont punish yourself if you eat slightly more on occassion. Exercise regularly (you prob still do PE at school). Don't worry about being skinny, skinny is an unhealthy body image pushed on to young kids by the media/Hollywood. Louise: I feel for you....but I think you need to just eat healthy and don't think about your weight. If you could, eat 3 meals a day and have 2 snacks. Get a book from the library on nutrition....try to focus on others and not on yourself. Get on a good meal plan and add some exercise. You will be amazed at how much better you will feel knowing you are helping yourself (instead of hurting yourself). You don't need to worry if its an eating disorder (diagnostically) or not. You should know that it could become a problem. It obviously worries you, so try talking to a counselor or your parents BEFORE it becomes a problem. im no expert but eating disorders arent just about starving yourself alone it can be "pigging out" and then throwing up or a preoccupation with food my personal advice to u would be to talk to your family and your doctor yes, yes you are , eating should take place when u r hungry and not have such obsession attatched to it, take it easy and get a little help. u r obviously skinny, so stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... easy, just think that you are too skinny. how much is 7 stone? You are being terribly mean to your body. If you can get an appointment to visit your family doctor or a nutrition specialist, they can explain how your behavior is affecting your body. When you skip eating and then pig out, you teach your body to slow down calorie burning. That will actually make you gain weight, not stay thin and healthy. If you want to make your body trim and healthy, eat three sensible meals daily or six small meals spread through the day and do some exercise three times a week for 30 minutes at a time. Your body will have the nutrients and fuel you need and it will burn calories efficiently if you do this. You will have a more balanced outlook and feel less paranoid too. Another thing to consider, is that your teeth will suffer if you have poor nutrition. You can't replace them once they rot out, so take care of them! I don't think you are getting a disorder, you just need to educate yourself about healthy eating habits. It can be a challenge to eat healthy when you are 14. best of luck to you :) nope, you are not mad, you are not suffering ANY disorder..^^ this looks like either anorexia or bulimia. It's the beginning of it anyways. What you're doing is that you think of yourself as overweight all the time. Your mind is playing tricks on you and you have the urge to lose weight when you're perfectly normal. You're trying to stop eating and starve yourself to lose weight (anorexia) but then you end up eating. If you end up eating big portions, literally binging, then you have a big chance of going over to bulimia. I'm not going to go into details of what bulimics do for certain reasons. But what you should be doing is devising a diet if you're that desperate to lose weight. Exercises a lot (running/jogging, push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, strength training etc.) and eat more vegetables and fruits. Drink more water and stay away from junk food or anything which has a lot of fat in it. If you eat few, but big, meals each day (e.g. big breakfast, big lunch, big dinner...) then make a plan so you eat mor frequent, but less(!) so what you're doing is that you're dividing the meals up so you won't think you're eating too much each time. you might be starting, if you carry on like this then you will. if you want to stop then you might want to do some more research on eating disorders to see what they can lead to, Starving yourself and then binging is the beginings of an eating disorder. AT least you are smart enough to recognize it and be concerned. Stop right now before it developes into something bad. Try not to be so obsessed about being stick thin, it doesnt realy look that good. In your later years you will realize that guys like women with a little meat on their bones, I dont mean over weight, just a healthy looking figure with sexy curves. If you want to lose weight, dont starve yourself, exersize instead that way you will build lean muscle while maintaning weight and great health benefits too. Then you wont look like a wafe. Honey, You can not starve yourself, vomit,or do anything thats your body doesn't want. It can get very serious. Your very the average weight right now. you don't need to be under weight its just unhealthy. Your still growing and you need food badly. Just eat things thats are good for you and make you feel good.EVERY girl wants to be skinnier " i did" You need confidence about yourself and say your beautiful the way you are. let me let you in on a secret, The more you consentrate on your weight your weight becomes your life, You'll acctually be healthier when your not thinking about it 24/7 . Its sound like the on set of binge purge bulimia. Where you starve your self and your body want to eat so eat a bunch of food and junk at once then you feel absolutely ill. You can't loose weight by starving yourself. If you don't feed your body it will hang on to what it already has. Eating all your meals later in the day is not good either. Check out some of the free nutrition sites that will show you what your ideal weight should be for your age and height. Find a diet forum to discuss healthy eating habits. Cut out or reduce the number of sodas and amount of junk food, foods with empty calories and no nutritional value. Well my friend it seems like your insecure not fat. what you need to do is speed up your metabolism and do some exercise to keep your self from pigging out. honey i dont think you have one at present but you are at risk.i have had anorexia and its destructive in so many ways.if you want to be thinner do moderate exercise, eat better and in good portions.and think yourself beautiful for who you are you are at a stage in your life that it is common for these feeling about your body to be there but remember that obsessing over food in the end controls your life.i suggest talking to someone close that you can trust about these feelings.maybe journal about it as well.it does feel nice to be called and be skinny but healthy feels a whole lot better. |
