I think my friend has a eating disorder.?

So my best friend moved to the OC about a year and a half ago. We now live about two hours away from each other so I see her about every month or so. Each time I see her she is smaller and smaller. She works out twice a day and only each caeser salad without dressing. So pretty much nothing.. She is so small and her face now looks gross. My mom recently saw her and said that she is smaller than my 12 year old sister. How should I talk to her without her getting mad or hurting her feelings? She looks so unhealthy it scars me.

By the way I am 27 and have been friends with this girl for about 15 years now..

I am sorry she only eats salad...

Maybe you should just ask her whats going on...i mean if you've known her for so long then she knows that you're only interested in her well being. It's probably easiest to be honest with her, and she might get angry/upset with you for a while but at least you've been honest and thats the best thing a friend can be. Just let her know that you're there for her. Usually people deny anything is wrong but you just have to be annoying and persistent till they give in and admit it.

Are you sure thats what she only eats? If you are than yes she does have an eating disorder... working out 2 a day isnt bad!
It also of course makes you weigh significantly less....
but what my friend did for me was wrote me a note and printed out all the symptoms to a eating disorder highlighted them and gave it to me... it put in my place showing the reality that i had an eating disorder...

Hope this Helps!

Anerexia maybe?

It sounds to me that she does have some sort of eating disorder.

Maybe joke with her next time you see her and say "jeez whats your secret? I would love to be losing all that weight!" If she gets offended right away with that, then I'd say there's your answer right there.

Either way you say it she will get mad. If she's that deep into this disorder, than she's almost brainwashed to think it's OK to be eating the way she is and treating her body so poorly.
If that doesnt work I'd say just ask her. Honesty is the best policy. Reassure her that you love her and care about her best interest and her health. I know if you don't say something to her and GOD FORBID something terrible happens you will have that guilt for the rest of your life. Sooner or later she will realize that what she is doing is wrong...so if she does get mad at you, she will eventually forgive you and thank you for being a friend.

Good luck! I hope it works out and I hope she's ok!
