Developing eating disorder...? |
i'm worried that one of my really close friends is developing an eating disorder but not sure about the symptoms -- but she is obsessive about calories and stuff and she told me a few days ago that she's getting usually less than 1000 calories a day and exercising almost daily but she's really happy about that but also sooooooo worried all the time about what she looks like and she weighs herself two or three times a day... she hasn't had her period for about 3 months either... she says 132lbs and is around 5'8" i think... should i say something to her? her mom's also getting pretty worried too... what should i do? she doesn't look very skinny but i'm really scared of what can happen and stuff... and whenever i try to talk about it with her she gets angry and defensive and stuff..... ahhh:( She has disordered eating habits it sounds already well i had eating disorders and i gained more weight and slowed my metabolism bad The best way to lose weight is to eat 3 to 5 small meals. Eating a thousand calories or less is really bad i was eating about 300 and trust me its not good. Keep chocolate around if you notice shes about to faint it helps raise the blood sugar and you should have her see a nutritionist or a therapist. She will resist and be mad but its better than her possibly dying. Plus people need to realize people with ed aren't always skinny most are not it depends what type you have. DO NOT let her join any pro ana websites it gives her more encourgment and tips or books on the them it gave me tips and i wish i would of never read them even the ophilea speaks. Just tell her how you feel or maybe if she watched movies about death about them or whatever how bad it is. as someone who has bene fighting an eating disorder for 10 years....yes tell someone. i would say something to her mom but keep ion mind her mom might be helping her thinking what she is doign is good and making her thin. if you get that feeling then i woudl go to the school counsellor and voice your opinion that there might be a problem. |

Eati... try eating in only VERY small amounts at first, then slowly begin to increase the amount.. also see a doctor and a therapist they will help, believe me.... ...You may want to rethink that statement. Having someone to talk to about it who DOES know who you are can make things much easier to work out - they can help you to understand why you're doing ... you should have a sit down private talk with her.. If shes a true friend then she'll understand and maybe even help you out on the down low ...anorexics usually consume between 100 and 500 calories a day. depending on how whether or not they're fasting. obviously, on a fast the calorie intake is usually under 10 cals. anorexics us... Nothing, this is normal. ...Start off small. Rather than eating a whole healthy meal, start with a tiny slice of apple. Then the next day, start building up until you can eat a whole one. Take your time; think long term, woul... It doesn't matter if you are not small. They are medical professionals and they know that you do not have to be skinny to have an eating disorder.
