My mum doesn't understand my eating disorder, what can i do to make her listen?


I have a disorder of eating infront of other people, but when i do she will make a issue of that the food is my favorite which really hurts my feelings by making me wanna die, because it makes me feel like i eat to much. Because i walked away last time i did this and was crying she thinks i'm being childish and stupid and she wont listen or understand that i dont like her talking about me and food infront of other people,

what can i do to make her listen and understand me?

im 15 and a minor and to her i dont have a choice 99% of the time.

i have bulimia and nobody no's coz they wouldnt understand
she sounds lyk my mom you've just got to stick by ur guns

You are not addressing the right issue. If you feel odd, eating with others, don't eat with others. Your Mum doesn't understand. OK that's it. She doesn't understand. Take control of your own life.

Tell her. Tell her over and over until she listens. Have u actually sat down with her and said how u feel, that its so bad u think u have a disorder? Shes ur mum, when she realises she will feel awful. I think u should see a doctor about this, get advice on how to cure this because i'm sure u don't want to live with it for the rest of ur life. Is there anyone else in ur family u can confide to about this? someone who could take u to the doctor if ur mum won't listen. Try not to worry, she'll listen very soon, things will be sorted out before u know it.

Think about the reasons you don't like eating in front of people. Is It because you are shy, scared of not having the correct manners or just the thought of being watched that you don't like. Most people when eating are too busy doing just that,without taking any notice of what others are doing.Part of growing up comes with socialising,so It Is nice If you can sit round a table with others,chatting and sharing a meal together. I Promise ,once you have done it a few times you will not even think about it again. Now show your mum you are not childish,the next time there are guests coming for dinner,Involve yourself by helping your mum prepare and serve the food. Your missing a lot of fun by excluding yourself from the family table,even if you don't want to eat, at least make the effort to be sociable. Good luck!
