I have an eating disorder - what should I do?

I've had an eating disorder for a few years now. It started out with some overeating.. I ended up gaining 20-30 lbs gradually though, which was normal for my height but I felt awful. So I went on a diet where I exercised 2-3 hrs daily and only ate a small amount of calories (started out as 700, and advanced quickly to 100-200 per day). I lost a lot of weight and became addicted fast. Since then, I have been through some counseling at different places (currently I am not, though). I was also in an intensive outpatient treatment program for awhile (Inpatient is too expensive). I constantly hear "you need to eat more" from my family & friends. I am vegetarian and am lactose intolerant, so that does not give me many options. They think the only way for me to get over this is counseling. But I can't get anything out of it; I can't be open w/ any therapist. I heard once that 70% of people don't ever recover.. I don't want to live like this forever, but I don't know how to stop. Any advice?

hey,

Found this site as I browse for eating disorder treatments. I guess they can help you.

so long question ask in protions!

A counsellor can only do so much. You don't mention what category of disorder you have, but I've had the entire spectrum from anorexia to borderline obesity. I recovered from that only to find that once I began to eat normally I put on weight so fast. It's like a vicious circle for some people. I think I will be one of the 70% you are talking about. All I can say is take one day at a time and remember that lots of people have issues with food. It doesn't make you any less of a person. Try and keep strong in yourself.
The only thing that really works is vigorous exercise and extreme attention to diet every single day.
