How can i have an eating disorder when..?

how can i have an eating disorder when im not skinny..and i do eat..i just exercise to much..my therapist is all freak out just because i don't get my period but how can i have an eating disorder when i eat..i don't eat all foods just some that are healthy...i weigh 117 and im 5'7" thats actually pretty heavy for a person at that height..ahh im so confused..and it stuiped they want me to eat fatty food when im already fat..but if i don't they are gonna put me in the hospital in two weeks..what the heck

117 for a 5'7 girl is pretty skinny. you make me feel fat and Im 115 at 5'4. and people call me super skinny!!! and thinking that you are fat at this height and weight is classified as anorexia. your body mass index (BMI) at your height and weight is 18.3. Anything under 18.5 is classified as underweight. and its definately not healthy when you dont get your period every month. and excerising too much isnt healthy either and can be considered as part of an eating disorder b/c anorexics dont eat a lot but excerise for hours a day.

You do have a body image issues. Being 5'7 and 117 lbs is not fat. Working out too much is not good either. Just enough is fine, but when you start obsessing over it, then ya, it becomes a problem.
You dont have to stop eating in order to have an eating disorder. Binge eating is an eating disorder, and those people eat. They eat too much.
Listen to your therapist, she'll know what's good for you.

117 at 5'7" is actually UNDERWEIGHT. if you are exercising like crazy and thinking that you are fat, then you have a distorted body image. THAT is a sign of an eating disorder (EVEN if you eat).

Sweetie, 117 lbs is very thin for 5' 7"........! Listen to your doctor and family. I'm 5'8" and look terrible if I get below 130.

I work in health and nutrition.

Personally, you do have a weight problem.

The BMI of a person (body mass index), your size (height and weight)
should be about 135lbs. ThAT IS NORMAL WEIGHT FOR YOUR HEIGHT!!..

Im 5'5 and havnt weighed 117 since i was like a freshmen in hs. and im definaetly far from that now haha

SERIOUSLY you have to eat a LOT more if you are working out all the time.

Think of it like the engine of a car, if you dont put fuel in it- its not going to run, well run properly!

You need to fuel your body if you are working out all the time. dont worry, eatting mroe frequently is actually GOOD for you! it speeds up your metabolism, and keeps your body running.
they say diet-ers, should eat 6 small meals a day!
healthy food is on the right track though, that youre doing right.

Make sure you always have crackers, veggies, or granola bars with you - and always drink plenty of water.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!
this way you wont end up in the hospital

Good luck

Being 117 pounds at 5'7" is not heavy for your height, it is technically underweight.

If you are not getting your period it is because you do not have enough body fat to sustain it. A woman's body is an amazing thing, and it will only allow us to get pregnant when we are in a healthy enough position to do so. Please understand that if you continue like this you may never be able to have children, even after you gain some weight.

Exercising too much and not getting enough calories is extremely dangerous. It puts strain on all of your organs, and will eventually cause them to fail. You DO have an eating disorder, and severe body image issues. Your therapist and family can see what you can't, and they are doing the right thing by trying to get you help. Accept it. It will be very hard, but it will be worth it, because at the other end there is nothing but death.

Okay, first of all 117 is NOT heavy for someone who is 5'7". According to the charts that gives you a BMI of 18.3, UNDERWEIGHT, is what the charts say. Being underweight is the reason you are no longer able to have a period. Your body is not functioning properly. But I'm guessing you already know that for yourself, you just don't want to believe it.

Second of all, exercising in order to get rid of every single last ounce of weight is one of the signs of an eating disorder.

Third of all, the fact that you might be seeing a fat person when you look in the mirror can also be a sign that you have an eating disorder (if you really aren't fat). This is a form of Body Dysmorphic Syndrome. You think there's something wrong when there really isn't (other than that you are underweight and exercise too much)

Okay, I'm not there and I can't see you and I'm not your therapist, but I guess your therapist knows what he or she is doing.

Your body must have a certain level of fat in order to work properly. This will not make you look disgusting or obese, but it will enable your heart to continue beating, your hair to continue to grow and your hormones to function properly.
