Did I have an eating disorder?

Hi,

When I was 14-16 I would do 900-1,000 jumping jacks a day and jump rope. I was constantly worried about what I ate..but I did not starve myself..I seemed to eat, and then exercise it off. It was like I HAD to exercise or else I would be extremely upset with myself. I also remember feeling good after exercising even though my legs were strained a lot from doing so much.

I was about 5'3 and weighed about 112 when I began doing these exercises, when I ended them I was about 105 lbs..It didn't go on everyday for those 2-3 years--it was on and off. I gained weight and then I would lose it. The weight loss certainly wasn't severe...but it seems like I had the mindset of someone with an eating disorder. I never thought there was anything wrong with me..but now I am second guessing myself.

Please tell me what you think.

Thank you.

it doesn't sound like an eating disorder, sounds more like a compulsion, or simple obsession. most people have them in phases through out their life. As long as you never let your self go extreme you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

no you didn't have an eating disorder.. if you did you would hate food and it wouldn't be on and off it would always ON and it would be hard to stop. and most people don't know they have an eating disorder..

i am sorry, but i wish i had that problem, i despise any vegies, except if they are raw. Wierd i know, but i am pretty sure you are cool.

It's called exercise bulimia and it's actually a pretty legitimate eating disorder.

nope:)

help me please:) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...

It sounds like you may have a case of exercise bulimia

Personally I think it would be considered an eating disorder, just because you mentioned you'd be upset if you didn't work off what you had just eaten. Of course everybody feels good after an exercise workout, but being upset if you don't work off something you had just eaten might be signs of an eating disorder. Also exercising too much isn't a good thing, you can exhaust your body. If you're concerned, you may want to ask your doctor, they would be able to give you a proper diagnoses. And don't be shy about it, asking is better than never knowing (:
