I have an eating disorder and think my friend might also? |
well, i have an eating disorder, i self diagnosed myself and i have been trying to recover by myself and i cant do i have given up...dont tell me what to do in this question please. i think my friend might have an eating disorder but im not sure.i dont hope she does, becuase its hell but i want someone to know about my ed, someone i can trust that might also have this problem. how can i tell? like she eats next to nothing lately after i told her i thought i was fat and then she just excersizes lots and doesnt eat as much and only drinks water. what do u think? how should i bring it up without straight out saying "I THINK U HAVE AN ED"? hey if you ever want to talk just reply to this message..my friend had a problem that i didn't even know about she was bulimic..and she open up about it as soon as i open up to her about my eating disorder..also just so you know i would tell someone because giving up just doesn't work personal experince and i just felt even more deppressed..if you don't want to tell someone why don't you read a self help book like one that i read that was "Life without ED"..also i go to therapy all the time and it isn't bad at all i like it, also don't give up it takes a long time to recover im still in the process and i fail sometime like when i lost 6 pounds in less than a week You are freiends with her, right? Then I would question her.. I've noticed that you are not eating as much lately and only drinking a little bit of water, is everything alright? You may be able to get her to open up and start talking to you and she may share things with you and then you may feel comfortable sharing with her. It is way easier to fight a battle with someone than alone!! You two may buddy up and win your battles together! I hope that you do! Eating disorders can be a hard way to go and having someone like you will help! it's no differnt hen being a drug add. you can't help yourself you need to help from a doctor and it's ok to get help you have no idea what eating disorder can do to you it can damage the rest of your life if it doesn't kill you first..being really skinny doesn't look cute just work out and keep yourself at a healthy weight you will feel so much better about youself..good luch honey being skinny isn't everything The only person who needs to understand it..is you..and why.. Yes. Wouldn't you say it would have been a lot easier for you if someone you knew and trusted told you point blank? Someone people really like honesty from friends. It might be just what she needs to hear to reverse it before she gets to the point that you did. does she wear a red bracelet? lots of them do.. You should start by telling her how you believe that you have an ED yourself, so that she won't feel so along in admitting it herself. Explain that you feel she might be having the same problem and that if so, you would like to get through it together. When approaching someone on a touchy situation never say "YOU..." always say,"I". If you trust that friend tell her your situation. Start by telling her that you really need to talk to someone you can truly trust. Then proceed to tell her "I have a problem and need your support!" If she does have an ED also, she will also want to confide in you. Its different when you are trying to fight something so powerful on your own, so maybe fighting it together will be successful for both of you! I also had an ED when I was in 9th grade. My best friend realized it and got mad at me because I wasn't only hurting myself I was hurting her too! It hurt her to see me hurting myself. Needless to say she helped me to overcome my ED by controlling my weight the healthy way. To this day we are still bf's (6 years later) and fighting my ED is one of the things that made us bond even more! I really do appreciate everything she did for me. Leason learned: it's too hard to do it on your own, so be there for each other and be strong! |
