Is this an eating disorder???

I am tired ALL the time. From when I wake up, to the time I go to sleep.
I am undergoing therapy for depression/anxiety and I don't eat very much, if I do it's mostly low-fat ice cream, Popsicles..stuff like that.

Bottom line is that my mom said to me that I'm tired all the time because I don't eat right. I ignored her.

Could this be an eating disorder? Is it a good idea to talk to my therapist about it?

Please let me know.
Thank you.

I do NOT get my daily amount of meat, fruit, veggies..etc.

yes it is, and it is why you are tired all the time. you need nutrients to fuel your body. if you dont change you will feel worse and worse. If you continue like this your body is going to be malnurished, you will experience some terrible and eventually permenant side effects (organ malfunctions). if u dont change you will end up in the hospital and they will feed you through your veins

I would say the not eating is a side effect of the depression and anxiety. When I get really stressed about something or depressed, I stop eating completely. I mostly just smoke cigarettes. I think that maybe it's because you feel like you don't have control over certain areas of you life, but the amount of food you intake you can control, so you control it in the extreme. Does that make sense? Definitely not judging, though, because I do the exact same thing. I think a lot of girls and women do. We're high strung.

It doesn't sound like an eating disorder... it sounds more like a side effect from any medication you might be taking.

You should definately talk to your therapist. If you're not taking meds than it is purely psychological and you should definately be aware of that as you go through your day and try to make yourself eat more of what your body needs.

You don't have to eat too much since it sounds like you are not burning up too much energy. BUT WHEN YOU DO EAT, try to eat something that will help give you energy. Fruits, veggies and such.

Good luck with everything!

Depression makes you feel very drained and tired, but your diet also plays a part in depression. Your body needs all the vitamens and nutrients to function properly, when you don't eat right your body doesn't work right. As well as not giving you energy, you need carbs. and proteins for energy.
You could be making your depression worse by not having a good diet. Definately talk to your therapist, I'm not sure why you don't eat so its hard to know if it's a eating disorder. I hope you feel more like yourself soon.

do you not eat because you think you are fat and are trying to become skinnier, or do you not eat because you are not hungry. if you answered yes to the first one, talk to a therapist. if you answered yes to the second one, talk to either your family doctor or a nurtitionist. you may very likely be malnourished.

I think that you should definitely talk to your therapist about it if you arent get all the foods that you need. As am I, I do not get the right amount of foods and such and I am always tired too. I think it is an eating dissorder, but you should still talk to your therapist.

Okay it sounds like maybe it could be an eating disorder but what you need to do is talk to a therapist or pediatrician. =] i am hoping that everything works out. in the mean time, force yourself to eat veggies and fruit even if you dont want to. im serious! =]]

Your mom might be right because you don't eat much. That is a minor eating disorder and you should seek some advise or help from your therapist or doctor..

If you're taking any anti-depresants, they can make you not want to eat much. You could be eating more than you are now, or at least better food.

you may need more iron in your system. anemic people usually are tired all of the time. try to eat food with iron in it, or get some iron pills

It may be a disorder or just a faze you are going through. It wouldn't hurt to bring it to the Doc's attention.

its because your not eating right and your not getting the right nutrition for you body.you mom is right

Many of our problems start by our own life style or bad habits. And healing from most of our diseases starts with acknowledgment of what we are doing and willingness to
change. Food can play an important role in altering our behavior. Now that you see your problem, the first step is to force yourself to do the right thing. You should decide to form good habits by eating less sugar in the morning. Many people don't know this but breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It's said, in the morning eat like a king; at lunch, eat like a queen; for dinner, eat like a peasant. So make sure you eat a good breakfast ( fruit, protein, carbs) then you will see some of your problems will start to go away. Remember to have plenty of sleep as well. Here is the acronym for good habit.

Nutrition
Exercise
Water
Sun
Temperance
Air
Rest
Trust in divine guidance

It's spelled " NEWSTART"
