Inpatient/hospitalization?[ eating disorder]?

two question about being an inpatient for eating disorder:

How long do most people stay?

What should i pack? comfey clothes or like nice clothes?

Probably at least 7 days and up to a couple of months. I have been in a couple of times.

Bring socks, comfy clothes, sweat-pants. No-one wears shoes, just socks. Also, you might want to bring your own pillow, because the hospital pillows suck and are gross. Bring a stuffed animal :)

Don't forget your toothbrush and toothpaste, tapons or pads, hairbush, shampoo, other tioletries.

Also, bring a journal, playing cards, and some books.

Don't bother with anything like curling irons or razors because they will take them. I think they even took my hairspray.

Sometimes they don't have in-room phones, so bring a calling card so that you can call out.

Your stay completely depends on your condition and the type of program you are going into.

Pack things without strings, ties, hoods, pouches, etc. They may or may not allow use of thong underwear and smaller items such as these. You will not be allowed to bring in a razor or anything that will be considered sharp (no writing utensils). Elastic sweatpants and tshirts should do for clothing. Remember that it often gets very cold in the hospital (to keep infection and germs from thriving). Do not pack anything with alcohol in it (not even mouthwash). Do not pack bar soap, as it spreads infection easily.

Call the hospital for their general rules and procedures.
