They are ailments that come from an unhealthy state of mind. A person suffering from an eating disorder has a distorted perception of his body that causes him to feel the need to change it by taking drastic changes in his eating habits. An eating disorder is a compulsion to eat, or avoid eating, that negatively affects both one's physical and mental health. Eating disorders are all encompassing. They affect every part of the person's life. According to the authors of Surviving an Eating Disorder, "feelings about work, school, relationships, day-to-day activities and one's experience of emotional well being are determined by what has or has not been eaten or by a number on a scale."[1] Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are the most common eating disorders generally recognized by medical classification schemes,[2] with a significant diagnostic overlap between the two.[3] Together, they affect an estimated 5-7% of females in the United States during their lifetimes.[4] There is a third type of eating disorder currently being investigated and defined - Binge Eating Disorder. This is a chronic condition that occurs when an individual consumes huge amounts of food during a brief period of time and feels totally out of control and unable to stop their eating. It can lead to serious health conditions such as morbid obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. Unless you can recall having low self esteem and body issues in the past, i don't believe this would be an eating disorder. It could be a hormone change, depending on your age maybe your female cycle is changing, and a number of other things that advice from a professional would be best. good luck i think you might have one but also u do need to see your doctor because u may just have stomach problems because there have been times when i was not hungry for days but after a few days i was eating like a pig haha I mean, if you aren't having feelings that you are fat and having low self esteem - you really might just have something else medically going on. You need to go see your doctor asap and get it checked out. loss of appetite is not a cause but it is usually a common sympton of alot of diseases and illnesses. go get yourself checked out by a doctor you may. but it could be other problems. You dont need this website, you need to go see a doctor asap. please do. good luck. |
