Could this be the start of an eating disorder?

well today i woke up and was doing some home work (yeah i know its summer but its required work for honors) so i wasn't done by 1 and i hadn't eaten anything yet then i still didn't eat anything all day...and i just drank water....and at the end of the day i felt accomplished and happy that i didn't eat anything....

also i sometimes try to not eat other times and then my parent's will make dinner and tell me i have to eat after i eat i feel depressed and angry with my self that i couldn't make it just one day...

It sounds eerily similar to several patients I have taken care of over the last few years at both a medical and psychiatric hospital. Of course, they had an eating disorder progress over several years.

I know it might be hard, but you want to approach your parents or a trusted adult (goodness that sounds cliche, and I'm 22). Maybe your school counselor can help get you in touch with resources. At least you've observed this behavior early enough to do something about it.

I've seen the result of this after 3-4 years, and it is not pretty or fun to deal with. good luck to you.

It does sound like the start to a serious problem, but atleast you have suspician that your doing something wrong, so now you just have to decided where to go from here. If you want to lose weight or just maintain your weight, just try to cut out foods with sugar, oils, and fats. It may not be possible since you probably do not buy the groceries, but just do your best to eat healthy. Do not get discouraged if you have junk food occasionally, because you need to keep your moral up in order to stick to the plan. That is why being content that your atleast trying to eat healthy is so important to making this lifestyle change. Also exercise in moderation is a good way to loose weight and be healthy. The key is to diet and exercise in moderation and not over do it.

That's how my eating disorder started. I was proud going days without food and only water and crackers. I couldn't even eat half an orange without puking it down the sink (3rd day of doing what you're doing) Bad bad things started happening! My mother yelled at me because the school notified her, so before anything else happens just force youself to have a few bites of food every now and then so nothing drastic happens and your metabolism doesn't slow down.

I agree with gsupernova...this happened to me, i was so stressed bc i had like the same situation as you, except i also did sports.. and i was so stressed between balancing honors and sports that i wouldnt think about getting a break...and realized this...and to perform anything at best its good to eat something healthy, just break your food into tiny bite size peices ot have fruit..

anyway, you shoud be ok...just get something to eat , you dont want your metabolism to slow down or do blank out on a problem

sorry to say,but yeah. it happened to me too. i totally regret it now. i lost my chest and bum and now i look like a skeleton. and soon you'd be constipated and your body system will go haywire. im trying to put on weight now.

if you dont feel hngry then eat anyway. DO NOT throw it up. its worse. Fight what you have made instead of adding gasoline to the flames.

Yes. Not eating also slows your metabolism so once you do eat normally again or even eat at all you gain a LOT more than you normally would.

I think that your brain is telling you to finish homework first and that is causing your brain to forget to make your body hungry.

yea, sadly its probably the start of anorexia. seek help before you start hating yourself more than anything

Yes. definitely. get help before it gets any further. it's hard to stop once you get started.
