Do all people with eating disorders hide it at first(right away)?

I have a friend who last year kept saying she needed to loose weight, and saying she was eating too much, when she wasn't eating at all hardly, and kinda bragging about it. I just ignored it, but now she's not saying nething at all and it's like she's hiding something, she did slip up once in May saying she thought she needed to cut back on what she was eating that day(she was eating fruit out of our jungle juice), but then she walked away and stopped talking about it...she is loosing weight. Might she actually have gotten an eating disorder from being a "wanarexic"? I'm worried about her she's my sorority sister.

so do ALL people hide their not eating when they first start, w/ their ED?

At first they're in denial and they don't realize the problem, then they realize what they are doing and know they have to hide it.

Yes, you can get anorexia from being a "wannarexic". It's a hell of an addictive disorder and hard to break free of.

Your friend needs professional help, try to approach her and say "I'm worried about you not eating, can we talk about it?" just to get the conversation started. If she doesn't want to talk at first don't pressure her, just gently reminder her that you're here for her whenever she wants to talk.

If she gets to the point where she is medically unstable then you need to bypass her and tell a professional, they can get her the help she needs.

part of having a "disorder" is reduced mental function so that is quite common.
