Should I tell my mom I think I have an eating disorder? |
I already told my therapist (yesterday) all about it. I feel alot better. But I don't think I can tell my mom...she'd freak out SOO much, she'd cry and be mad, and I really don't want to put all that stress on her. What do you think I should do? yes you should tell your mom. How? ask your therapist if she can talk to your mom. that way you can be there and your therapist will be there for you too. You have to tell you parents no matter how hard it may be because if you let something like this go you are going to become EXTREMELY unhealthy and it may lead to life threatening problems that will be expensive to fix. You just need to get into the doctors and get everything worked out while you are noticing you have the problem. if you have an eating disorder then yes you need to tell your mother. you need all the Support you can get, if you cant do it ask your therapist if they would do it for you and they can reassure your mother about your health and help you can get. I would say yes . tell her . she may have the emotins that you described but i think it would be because she does not want anything happening. An eating disorder can be a very bad health risk and by telling her she can help you. If your mother freaks out, ITS A GOOD THING! that means she cares about you. And I guaranty you she won't be mad. It's good your seeing a therapist and that is a form of help, but having support along with therapy is good too. Please, get all the help you can get! Absolutely tell her, it may hurt her and I am sure she will cry but mad, I don't think so. You need to get help now before it gets any worse! Please talk to her. Good luck and get better soon. Embrace the help. talk about with your therapist have her help you tell your mom, plus your mom will not freak out as bad and the 3 of you can talk about it together. you have to tell her. you have to get treated.. eating disorders are not something you can mess around with. As a recovering anorexic, YES tell her... |
