Problems with cutting and an eating disorder. i want help but i don't know if i can do it without her? |
i've been struggling with EDNOS (eating disorders not otherwise specified) and self injury of and on for 2 years. I've dealt with it on my own before but this time i just can't seem to get over it. I was thinking about going into group therapy with my girlfriend (yes my girlfriend so if you have a problem with that leave now) but today i found out that she was going just to support me. i told her i didn't want her to do that because it's a waste of her money and i don't want to be an inconvieniece for her and her family and she told me she wouldn't go if it made me happy. i tried regular therapy once and hated it. i think group therapy would be better for me its not selfish at all. she offered and you took. she cares about you and she wants to help so badly. if you let her help it will make you both feel better. and in group you have to share so she will get the help she needs at the same time. just let her go with you. Going to a regular group therapy isn't a good idea with someone you're in a relationship with. Maybe lightly suggest she go somewhere else. What if you broke up? Then maybe she wouldn't want to go to group therapy with you there, and maybe it was working and making a big difference in her life. You did the right thing. She has a problem too and she probably should go. Group therapy doesn't always work since there are so many people and they don't get to know you like a therapist will. addicts shouldnt hang around with addicts.. it never works.. if she cuts 2 and suffers from depression u should encourage her to go b/c she needs help just as much as u do |
