Do you have to be underweight to go to rehab for an eating disorder?

I know you dint have to be under weight to have an eating disorder because its a mental disorder but in order to go to rehab for this disease do you have to be under weight in order to get better? What do they exactly do in rehab for an ED?

I would assume the mindset would be that it's best to be treated before the eating disorder got totally out of control in the first place.
You may not even need rehab to get better at that point, behavioral therapy and close follow-up may be enough for successful treatment. Talk to your doctor!

See starving and making yourself throw up arent the only type of eating disorders there are. Their are varieties of different eating disorder. Ever heard of emotional eating? Yep you guessed it it is a eating disorder. And for the second question, im not quite sure what you meant but i will answer as best as possible. They will sit you with a bunch of other people with eating disorders, they will explor your past and try to find the source of the problem and then they wil worl on mending you. A good medical service will check for levels of hormones and nutrients in the blood. If it's clear you're malnutritioned in an extreme way then weight shouldn't matter. Especially as there have been cases of anorexics who were still not underweight but dies of electrolyte imbalances.

I wouldn't think so.

For example, some bulimics are normal weight.
It's like saying that you have to prove it and that's just not right.

If someone needs help you give it to them. It's wrong to deny giving help for such issues.

No you don't have to be underweight. Even anorexics (not saying you are) can be overweight.
