Are bulimia and anorexia nervosa the only eating disorders?

If not, please tell me about others.

there are many different eating disorders and even more episodes of disordered eating (think of all those crash dieters).

i'll list some that i can think of for you.

binge-eating- this is when people have the binge side of bulimia (as in they eating more than a normal meals worth of food uncontrollably in one sitting) but do not purge. these people are overweight.

orthorexia-these people are obsessed with "pure" foods. they generally will eat only organic, no dyes, no preservatives.

pica- people with this disorder eat non-edible items. they will eat dirt and wrappers of food among other things.

sleep-eating-- people who sufffer from this literally eat in their sleep without realizing it.

also, there are "versios" of anorexia and bulimia, some of which are EDNOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified)

for example- a person who eats very little like an anorexic and still purges actually falls into ednos because they purge.

also, a person may lose 100 pounds unhealthily, but unless their BMI falls below 17.5, they are not technically anorexic. same goes for those who do not lose their menses.

finally, there are different forms of bulimia.

overexcercising bulimics do just that. they overexcercise in order to burn of their binges. Source(s): i have anorexia and have been hospitalized with people who have the above disorders
No, there is also bigfatpigitis. Go to any mall in the US, and you can see the sufferers lined up at the Cinnabon stand.
Unfortunately, there is one more called binge eating. Its when you eat and eat and eat.
I think there is another that has not been outright identified: emotional eating. I think alot of people eat because it calms their emotions. That is my opinion.
Check out the link for info on binge eating... Mayo clinic is my number one source for medical info.

Nope! Compulsive overeating, eating WEIRD stuff like paper & dirt, and sleep-eating are some I can think of!
