Do you think the size of supermodels is directly related to eating disorders in young people? I do! I used to be a "twiggy" and it was completely bad eating. Not enough food to be healthy! when youre really young, you have enough stamina not to realize that you are killing yourself with starvation. You wind up skinny with bad skin, nails and hair because of bad nutrition. I am 42 now and after 3 kids I weigh in at about 150 as oppossed to 98lbs in my teens. I consciously chose to change my idea about what is beautiful. I like my body so much more now with some meat on it! When I see pics of myself younger I could shriek! Now I aim healthy and exercize. I have more body but better curves. I wish that I had not been influenced so heavily by the teen mags and media bs as a kid! GRRREAT Question!!!! Cindy C Source(s): ex teenager! Hell no! Do superstar horse jockeys have fans running around trying to become shorter? I think that it's part of it...look at the whole media, film actresses, singers etc. We're told what's acceptable and what's sexy!! Personally I think it's ridiculous. In my opinion Marilyn Monroe had a beautiful figure / body. Yet she was a size 14/16 which is classed as fat by media standards today! yesi do, children r influenced by thier peers. they see skinny models and want to look good. on the catwalk or in magazines you rarely see a size 14/16 woman even though that is the average size in britain. people who promote these skinny woman should cater with bigger woman to show kids that its not abnormal to be more than a size 6 8 or 10. Yes definitely......some of those girls look like death warmed up, i have to say. I have a 6 yr old and i dread her getting older and picking up mags and seeing this 'perfect' body......that looks like a bloody skeleton. Trevor MacDonald tonight done a show on this with Peaches Geldof......the young girls aspired to Nicole Richie and Posh, sooooo not good. - Is it conincidence that you don't see much of Charlotte Church, Jade Goody, Kate Winslette more of the curvier celebs in the mags these days....what are we telling our little girls????? Yes I do, the media in general really. Do you rememer in Love Island that Bianca Gascoigne, a perfectly proportioned young lady was told she was bordering on obese? F*cking ridiculous! She and all of the teenage girls who watched that probably now have eating disorders! |
