Eating Disorder or Food Addiction? |
I feel like I am addicted to food. I didnt think it was possible, but I can't stop eating...I am always wanting food and I am always eating, even if I am sometimes not hungry. I eat when I am bored, depressed, happy (never), or no matter what...I always want food..what can I do? How do I snap myself out of this? You are self-medicating with food. You should go to Overeaters Anonymous. It's for people who are addicted to food. They can get you to stop using food emotionally: http://www.oa.org Little by little, instead of reaching for food when you are feeling bored, depressed or happy, do some excercise, or watch a movie, or distract yourself by reading, writing or hanging around with family or friends. A food addiction isn't bad. It is when it become for junk food (burgers, fries, chips). Food addiction, binge eating is classified as an eating disorder. You can tryany therapy that deals with eating disorders or Overeaters Anonymous meetings may help. Food Addiction IS an eating disorder. Maybe overeater's anonymous or one of those support groups would help you. A great site for moral support is "Pam's site" for the Cambridge Diet. You don't have to be on the diet to utilize her site and the ladies on it are so wonderful and supportive. I've been using the site for a year to get really honest about my food addictions, even when I'm not necessarily dieting or using Cambridge products. http://members5.boardhost.com/pam140/... if you must snack try fruit and vegetables Actually it is, its called binge eating or compulsive overeating. What I try to do is never buy snacks and just buy healthy stuff to keep around for meals. Now when you get the urge to eat and your not hungry, than go running or something that will take your mind off it. It's not easy Good luck |
