Diet or Eating Disorder?

My girlfriend, who was obese when a teenager, is in her late 20s and looks great. She diets and exercises and is healthy. The only problem I have is that she ONLY eats salads. I did invite her over for dinner one night and I cooked BBQ chicken and I noticed how she said it was great and just ate around the BBQ parts and only ate the chicken part. We were at a cookout and there were hamburgers but she had to have salad. She says she does have low self esteem about her weight because of being so big when she was a kid. She runs half marathons and has a personal trainer and does wieght watchers. I just worry that she has an eating disoder. I admit she does have like 10 pounds to go, but i really wonder if she can stop after she makes it. She says she is not on a diet and that it is a lifestyle. I am confused. So do you think she has an eating disorder or is just on a lifelong healthkick?

I think she sounds reasonably healthy, but the fact that she limits herself to only certain foods may result in an ED later on. Does she ever allow herself a day to just enjoy food? She should have that once a week, it is even known to help with weight loss as it revs up the metabolism by keeping it guessing as to how many calories the body will receive.
Let her know she's beautiful to you as much as possible, ten pounds to go or not. Source(s): Experience
