Opposite of eating disorder...?

is there such thing as an eating disorder, where you dont starve yourself or throw up, but cant stop eating? like constantly gaining weight, and thinking about food, and eating food? is there a way to get help? like theres way to help anorexia but what about the opposite? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, Binge Eating Disorder. Google it for more information. HTH : )
IT is called over eating, gouging.
I actually work for a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders and yes, over-eating/binge-eating is now being recognized as an eating disorder. All eating disorders, whether they cause great weight loss or great weight gain, are driven by underlying issues that actually have nothing to do with food. The key to successful treatment of any form of eating disorder is to uncover the issues and deal with them and then change your habits.

Medication, therapy, and work with a nutritionist are the best bet. I suggest that you research Psychiatrists in your area who specialize in Eating Disorders and start with a visit to that doctor. They will be able to see if there is any area that medication may help with, refer you to a therapist familiar with your issues, and recommend a good nutritionist.

Good Luck!
Glutany....(eating alot!)

For other uses, see Gluttony (disambiguation)

An excessive pile of cakes for a gluttonous child.Derived from the Latin gluttire, meaning to gulp down or swallow, Gluttony is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or intoxicants to the point of waste. In the Christian religions, it is considered one of the seven deadly sins -- a misplaced desire of food or its withholding from the needy.

Depending on the culture, it can be seen as either a vice or a sign of status. The relative affluence of the society can affect this view both ways. A wealthy group might take pride in the security of having enough food to eat to show it off, but it could also result in a moral backlash when confronted with the reality of those less fortunate.

Early Church leaders (e.g., Thomas Aquinas) took a more expansive view of gluttony (Okholm 2000), arguing that it could also include an obsessive anticipation of meals, and the constant eating of delicacies and excessively costly foods. He went so far as to prepare a list of five ways to commit gluttony, including:

Praepropere - eating too soon
Laute - eating too expensively
Nimis - eating too much
Ardenter - eating too eagerly
Studiose - eating too daintily

[edit] Gluttony in the Bible
It's called gluttony & it's not only an eating disorder but it's a sin. The best way to overcome it is to think about what feelings you are experiencing just prior to a binge. Why do you feel that way? What is making you want to eat? Instead of eating to suppress those feelings deal with them. It's hard. It hurts. But it is necessary to overcome this. Another good idea is to find a hobby or something that interests you. Maybe you're just bored. A lot of people make food their hobby. That's wrong. It's destructive & it takes you out of real life. You need to eat to live NOT live to eat.
