My best friend has an eating disorder...HELP? |
she took 32 laxatives yesterday and purges everytime she eats!i'm so worried about her!what can i do?(she's already been going to an eating disorder class,a support group and counseling;she's also on meds for it but she's getting worse) Unfortunately, you're not going to be able to "do" anything but support her when she's trying to recover. There is more to anorexia and eating disorders than just eating. It's a control thing and she really needs to be in counseling with a professional and groups...all of those things she's getting. You can encourage her to go. Maybe getting her to volunteer with sick kids (those with cancer) might help her realize that her life is precious. In other words, get outside of "herself" and give to others is very healing. God love you for being a good friend. Source(s): retired nurse pray for her. talk to her parents you will be saving her life she needs in hosptal care with a psychiatrist, if you dont know her parents go to the school nurse and explain the situation and the nurse will go to her parents or notify some one to help her. dont wait she needs a lot of help and she needs it fast ,dont worry about making her mad or breaking her confidence if she has told you these things she is asking for help and you should get it right away good luck and learn from her unhapiness please dont follow her and do the same thing confront her, have an intervention. Tell her the seriousness of the situation, that she might die from this. Tell her you are worried and that you dont want to lose her. you really can't do much except be there for her. She's got a tough road ahead of her, and if you can be there and give her support, it might make it just a little easier. It's good that she's getting help...but nothing's going to work until she WANTS to be helped. Sometimes, it doesn't happen. An eating disorder becomes a kind of security, and the thought of leaving it behind can be terrifying. But let her know that you care about what happens to her and you'll stick by her no matter what. There is some useful advice here. |
