I Think I Have An Eating Disorder?

Okay, I'm not mega-depressed or contemplating suicide, so I know that I don't need to see a therapist of anything. However, I am still having a really hard time with being overweight... I went on a strict diet a little while ago and lost 25 lbs. in 4 months...and then I went absolutely crazy and gained 15 of those lbs. back in one week by binging. I know that telling myself "no" isn't the answer, because the REAL answer is in forgetting about the subject of food. a.) Do I have an eating disorder? and b.) If I do, does anybody out there have any solutions or words of wisdom that they can share? I have been like this for many years, and I need a change!

Chances are you do not have an eating disorder but suffer like the rest of us from... WANTING TO EAT THE GOOD STUFF!

We eat for social, entertainment, boredom and every other reason imaginable.

I don't know your age but what's most important is to find a healthy eating plan you can stick with for life. Any of us can lose weight on almost any eating plan. The hard part is keeping it off once you no longer have the scale for a reward. You can't go back to what you were eating before. That's how you got fat in the first place. I'm an expert here. I lost 70 lbs. three times. I didn't wake up until this last time. I tried different plans until I found the one that was perfect for ME. I'm happy with what I'm eating so can do it for life. I've kept my weight off for over two years now.

Good luck!
Sounds like what we euphemistically call a "Moon Pie High" where morbidly obese individuals substitute food for sex. Doesn't have to be sex, though--it appears you're substituting food for something missing in your life.
ok seriously TALK TO SOMEONE(i dont mean a therapist just anyone) it helps
The only thing I can say is yes, you have some kind of eating disorder. Gaining and losing weight so suddenly and radically is not normal. Considering the therapist thing could be good, even if you feel you don't need it, it may help. I hope you'll be able to get over this eventually..
Just because you are not suicidal it does not mean that you need a counselor. YOu admitted to binge eating which is a definate disorder. My suggestion to you would to start seeking counseling. The counselor will guide you and tell you what is best for you.

ANother thing you can try is Over Eaters Anonymous.

Keep this in mind. The only person that can help you is YOU. Yes, you need professional advice, but it's up to you to accept that advice and run with it.

It sounds to me like you will do just that.
I wish you the best of luck. :0)
Many of us are addicted to food. Some worse than others. It is a very real addiction. Read Bob Greene's book, The Best Life. It has a diet plan for life. It is gradual and realistic. The whole premise is, "How to live your BEST LIFE". Isn't that what you want? Visit the site, www.thebestlife.com I highly recommend the book.
this does need to be addressed with your doctor. But it sounds to me like you are a binge eater. You deprived yourself of the foods that you wanted to eat and one day you ate it all. do not deprive yourself of the things you like just eat a little less of it. eat off a salad plate instead of a full dinner plate. chew slowly the chewing makes you full faster. Hope this helps
