My friend says he has an eating disorder...?

Okay so my guy pal told me he has an eating disorder. He said he starves himself and doesnt want to eat anymore. I dont know what to think bc he said it was anorexia but he weighs 250 pounds. I thought anorexic was when youre skinny and think youre fat. He also laughs when he talks about it and is telling everyone that he is anorexic. What shall i do? Im lost!

I wouldn't be too worried. Off instinct, I would say he is attempting to grasp a little attention. Keep an eye on him though. If his weight starts to significantly drop or you see a strange behavior (besides the current one) spring up, it might be time to have a sit-down with him one on one, depending on the severity referencing him to a physician might be needed.

On a side-note, don't bring the subject matter up during conversations with him, but don't be too dismissive when he does either. Best of luck to you and your friend.
i think he is a nice happy go lucky person who is comfortable with his weight even though its 250 pounds and he is strin ging you along
i zink he haff ze eating disorder called, "Good Googley Moogley" it consist of ze man species being to, vat they call.. Juicy.
It is possible for someone who is 250 to suddenly stop eating (anorexic), but most people that actually have a problem don't discuss it with everyone. It's usually a secret.
the skinniness is a result of anorexia, no anorexic starts off as skinny as they are, they get that skinny because they stop eating...i'm not anorexic, but i have suffered from bulimia on and off ofr 3 years and some people are just really open about this stuff, most people in my life know thats what i struggle with. try and suss out if he really is anorexic, sometimes laughing and joking can make the things that hurt us not feel so bad, or make us not feel so stupid in other peoples eyes. i am often quite light hearted when i talk about my bulimia, because i dont want it to bum me out, sure i want to beat it once and for all, but i dont want to get depressed talking about it, its just something i gotta deal with...(eating disorders arent a choice (usually..) but its hard to explain unless you've been there) so i'd say just support your friend and encourage him to eat healthy and regularly... =)
