I think i may have an eating disorder, what do i do?

when i'm bored, i will eat just about everything under the sun, and not stop until i either go to sleep or feel sick. it started about 5 years ago. tonight was the first night in months that i didn't have work to occupy my mind and my time, and i've eaten just about everything in my fridge. i don't even think about it, i just want food, i just go in there and find things and eat it all. i don't vomit afterwards. i'm still fairly slim but am gaining weight pretty rapidly. what do i do about it?

From what you describe you either have an eating disorder or an attitude problem.

You can very possibly defeat this through changes in your habits and activities, but you may need a professional to help you.

Discuss this with your doctor, if you haven't already done so.
You might want to try going for a walk or getting together with friends and doing something so your not stuck at home and I think you will see that your eating habits are more of a behavior due to boredom.
Perhaps you have too much time on hand. Do something meaningful like indulging in your hobbies (other than eating), community work, or even taking up a new sport. If all else fail, seek professional help.

Overeating and not eating enough are both bad for the body.
this is actually a type of eating disorder called binge eating. You need to talk to your doctor about it. It could also maybe be a sign of another medical problem... best to get checked out. Some people eat when they are stressed or bored. Maybe you can try to keep a lot of vegetables on hand- reach for those instead.
