I think I am developing a eating disorder. What do I do? |
Suddenly I have become so sick of the way i look, I think I have subcontiously decided not to eat anymore. Cuz im 13, and 128 lbs. And Im so used to people giving me really dirty looks about how big I am. And I wear modest clothes, it's not like I walk around in halter tops. But i dont know what to do. Because I really really wanna lose weight, so i kinda wanna just stop eating. Please Help. I am NOT HAPPY WITH MYSELF. I HATE THE WAY I LOOK. Sweety, your fine! Please trust me. When I was in High School I thought I was fat, because I saw girls that were like size zeros. I'm 21 now and I look back a realize, I was so thin and the only reason those girls were thinner than me was because they just naturally could not gain weight or had an eating disorder and looked gross. Visit www.edap.org and talk to someone about this ASAP. And please fill your parents in. They won't be upset if your coming to them for help BEFORE a problem, starts. get help and just know...your perfect just the way you are! No, honey, that is not the way to go. Don't stop eating, just stop eating junk. Stop eating between meals. Stop drinking soda. Eat a good breakfast. This will get your metabolism to run faster and you will burn more calories during the day. If you need a pick me up before lunch, eat fruit. Then eat a healthy lunch and dinner. Again, if you need a snack in the evening, make it a healthy one. That, and adding some physical activity to your daily routine is all you need to do. Oh, and if you can stay on this routine during the week, Monday thru Friday, it's ok to reward yourself on the weekend with a small amount of the junk food of your choice. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU!!! If people have a problem with the way you look, its THEIR loss not yours. The best thing that you can do is ask for help. Go to your parents, a trusted adult, or a doctor. If you can't do that, at least try to realize that there is nothing wrong with you. You are a beautiful girl. 128 pounds is like nothing. If you feel really bad about the way you look, work out- just make sure you are eating enough calories to stay healthy. If you want to talk more- email me. EAT RIGHT and exercise... the key is to eat :) You should confide in someone so they can shoulder this with and take you to get the help you need! BE very cardful you don't hur (or kill) yourself. See a Dr. or even a shrink. DOn't be embarresed about a shrink, I've been seeing one for 35 years. Good Luck. Speaking as someone who's had an eating disorder for 6 years, I would advise you to talk to a therapist about this, and nip it in the bud as soon as possible. The funny thing with ED's is that you end up with some serious and rather embarrassing health problems equivalent to an 80 year old by the time you're 19 when the whole reason of starting the ED was to look good, it actually makes you OLD and UGLY. I started mine at 13, and regret the day I ever did. 6 years of an eating disorder gave me Hypoglycemia, orthostatic hypertension (screwed up blood pressure), Stomach ulcers, dependency on laxatives, pale skin, mineral deficiencies, A constant high heart rate, dehydration, constant dizziness, insomnia, SEVERE dental issues, and the list goes on not mentioning I almost died once when my potassium levels dropped to 2.5 (with the normal level being 4.0). An eating disorder will do nothing but age you, and rob you of your teenage years, and the rest of your life. I hope you make the right choice. |
