I am going to my first eating disorder therapy session. What if I am not really sick? Am I just parranoid?

What if I go to my shrink and don't have an eating disorder after all? Am I then a hypochondriac? I try to avoid eating and I get the urge to purge everything out of me though I don't usually follow though.

If you don't have a disorder, then going to the session won't hurt you. However, if you even have the urge to throw up and stuff, you probably do have a problem. People who get the urge to commit suicide often seek help even though they never act on it.
It won't hurt anything to go. Better be safe than sorry. if you don't have a disorder then your shrink will let you know. A hypochondriac thinks they are sick all the time from many different things. You aren't a hypochondriac.
I think that you are being brave for going to the doctor to discuss this!
I think that avoiding eating and even having an urge to vomit after eating is definitely not normal eating behaviour and you are doing the right thing about discussing it with your shrink.

What does it matter if he/she tells you that it's nothing to be concerned about?.. I'd rather have it looked into and feel a little bit silly, than to neglect something that COULD cause serious problems down the track !
Registered Nurse.
Just go through it, it will help you in longer run...
you have an eating disorder if you avoid food or even think about wanting to throw up. This is good that you are wanting to get your self out of this. You are beautiful and never forget it, no matter what any one says!
Just the thoughts and no action? no problem
