Can a compulsive eater ( with a binge eating disorder) find relief without professional help?

i'd love to speak to anyone who has gone through it, either with or without professional help. how was it for you, what can you tell me about it? how did you get through it?
and if you're available i'd like to chat or email
thanks

I used to have that! I also had depression but I didn't want to be on mind altering drugs or something. I wanted to feel like myself. I finally found an all natural solution after 5 years of searching and trying things, its so simple and now I am losing weight too. I don't have those crazy cravings and then diet like crazy. Now food looks good, but I'm not so driven to eat it. I can choose to take it or leave it. I have lots of energy and my skin is clearing up from acne. I'd be happy to chat online, do you have MSN?

I can tell you tons more about these new all natural mineral supplements. Anyone reading this is free to email, I'd like to help.
Very Doubtful! You need to see an eating disorder specialist!
A psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders can help you. The longer you wait the harder it is to get out of it.
I have never personally gone through this, but I have had very close friends go through it. I have watched them day after day get worse and worse. I think that is is virtually impossible to get better without seeking professional help and prayer.
Going to school to be a clinical psychologist so I have some schooling and some seminars behind me.
You can find help within yourself. That is very difficult and can lead to feelings of failure. It is better to get help so you can understand your own feelings better.
The reason that people do this is because they feel out of control in some area(s) of their lives and are trying to find some control in some ways. It is an emotional issue and usually doesn't resolve itself. Counseling would help. You need to fix what is wrong inside and that often requires help to figure it out precisely. Yes, I have had eating problems in the past and did go through counseling for a long time, not particularly for the eating disorder, but it was an issue brought up off and on and it did become resolved as I began learning to resolve my inner conflicts. I'm at a healthy weight now and eat healthy, which doesn't mean I don't splurge sometimes.
