Can u still have periods whith an eating disorder? |
i think i may have aneating disorder but i still have periods be that they are irregular i am 6 and a half stone anorexics will lose their periods when they drop below a certain weight; generally bulimics still get periods. the scariest thing about not getting period is it is an indicator that you are not getting enough calcium in your bones, for some reason long-term loss of periods is equated to bone loss. i've met long term anorexics (well the few that survive) whose bones broke alot because they were so brittle. you don't want to end up like that really! Yes you can still have periods and the fact they are irregular and your weight is a concern. Please try to get to talk to some one help is there with no judgement on you.... Yes you still have periods. Stopping your periods is a side effect but you could still have regular periods and still have an eating disorder. The fact they are irregular will clue you in that something may be not right. I don't know your weight or height but 6 and half stone is very very light. I'd definitely recommend talking to a doctor or a psychologist about it because you could definitely have a problem. You can definitely still have periods but they will probably be sporadic. Eventually if you get sick enough they will most likely stop altogether. You definitely should get treatment for this as there are many other problems that occur with eating disorders including dental problems like tooth loss, gum problems, loss of tooth enamel as well as hair loss...your body goes through all sorts of chemical changes to. It can affect the internal organs as well... Your kids need you remember that... Sadly, I speak from experience of an eating disorder since the age of 2 and a half. You don't say how old you are or how tall. Please try to get some help. You can email me on here if you wish. My life is lost but, it hopefully is not too late for you. If this is a serious question, please get in touch. I have been told I had 2 weeks to live on several occasions. It's not amusing and I wish you well. xx yes yes being under weight will course irregular periods and can sop them all together and may even do permanent damage, but im not sure. you should get help if you feel you may have an eating disorder because it is very serious and there is people out there who can help you, your really not alone. good luck and i hope all's well |
