I think my best friend might have an eating disorder, what do I do?

Her ex boyfriend told me that she developed an eating disorder and that's how she became so skinny. I'm not sure if he was saying it to be a jerk (because they're in a huge fight etc etc) but why would he just say that out of nowhere?

And now it makes sense. When we were younger, about 10-11, she used to be chunky. Her mom and brother called her fat a lot, until one day I saw her and she was SKINNY and it doesn't make sense. She hasn't been eating less, MORE probably. We're 14 now. She can eat 3000 calories in chocolate bars, along with breakfast, lunch and dinner, and still stay 105 lbs at 5'5. (No joke).

I'm starting to think maybe she's throwing up. It would explain her bleaching her teeth, too, which she just started to do.

I tried bringing it up to my friend, but she only said 'YOU KNOW I EAT, I EAT A LOT, YOU'VE SEEN ME'

Am I just being paranoid or could she have an eating disorder? I'm so worried. Her mom wouldn't care if she had one, she would probably encourage it.

It is very hard to bring it up with someone that has an eating disorder. My wife had an eating disorder before we got married and about two years into our marriage. The thing that I did is get her friends in on it, have them remind her that she is not fat and she needs to eat. I also set up a reward program. If she ate three meals a day for 7 days then we did something special. A meal is a meal not chips and soda. She also ended up having her talk with a professional. She is doing much better and is eating very well and has gained some weight, and she has more energy and feels better. when we started dating she was 5'10" and 110 and now a little over 130 before she got pregnant.
involve her parents now .. dont wait till its to late .. its its nothing no harm can come
First of all yeah you might want to leave her alone. You cant stop her.
I'd talk to your school nurse or guidance counselor about it. It does sound like she may have an eating disorder, especially if family members used to tease her about her weight. What your family and friends say to you have a huge impact on how you view yourself.
maybe she just thinned out. sometimes that happens. i think you are jealous cause she is thinner than you. if you are really concerned just spend a bunch of time with her. Dont let her go to the bathroom alone.
Don't wait and don't stand back and allow her to do this to herself. You might not think her parents would care but more than likely they do! But even if that were the case, if you feel that way, then step it up and do something about it now and before it's too late. I think your right! Go tell a school counsler. Will your friend get mad at you? 85% chance she will and she will say things like "Your so stupid! Why did you embarrase me that way etc etc" But if she does have a eating disorder, she will come to know that in time, you did what a good friend really should of done! And even if it isn't true, you still did what you thought was best for her so how can she stay mad at you in any case? SAY something NOW! Don't wait another day and do NOT listen to people who tell you to ignore it! That's TERRIBLE advice! That's the kind of advice that ends up getting someone killed!
talk to her now!!!!!! if she is trowing up or something talk to her and tell her the harm it can do if nothing is going on she just keeps loosing wieght and is eating alot tell your parents and her parents and get her to a doctor right away this could be serious if you dont do it now it could just get worse and she could have real problems later in life
