What is the average lifespan for a person with a eating disorder?

Specifically Bulimia

Depends on how bad it is and the damage to your heart. There WILL be damage and if you don't stop death will occur. Not to mention all your teeth will rot out of your mouth, you will have bleeding in your stomach and esophagus (that can kill you too).
"Persons with bulimia -- even those of normal weight -- can severely damage their bodies by frequent binging and purging. Electrolyte imbalance and dehydration can occur and may cause cardiac complications and, occasionally, sudden death. In rare instances, binge eating can cause the stomach to rupture, and purging can result in heart failure due to the loss of vital minerals like potassium."

not very long if it isnt fixed :(
well i would think it depends on what the eating disorder is and at what age it started. if it is anorexia, and the person does not get help, they will not live long. you can also go back and forth from being anorexic and bulimic. what i would suggest is do research on the two eating disorders and it will give you a better understanding of the disorders and how they affect someone. i think that as long as you have help and support, you can live as long as someone who does not suffer. i have bulimia (non-purging type means that i just fast) and i beleive i am pretty healthy and will have a long happy life. i do have support and help from my bf and from a social worker. but do the research on the condition, it will help you understand it better. hope this helps you!!
