How do you tell your Family that you have an eating disorder?

Im a Mother of two and a husband of one... Iv been bulimic for the past 6 years now, and enough is enough... I want to stop for my daughter becuase even though she's only two now, I don't want her knowing that her Mommy is a loser who can't eat a meal without throwing it back up!!! And I don't ever want her to go through what I have! I feel that if I tell evry one I know about my Eating disorder than theres no way I could go back to it! I don't think Iv dijested a meal in about 1 1/2 years, and it sickens me to think about it!!! I'v finally realised that NO ONE CARES WHAT I LOOK LIKE!!! the world is not all about me. but I know that in dew time if I don't make an effort to tell people then I'll just go back to the ED... Anyone with advice on how to tell my parents and my in-laws and my husband please let me know!!! thanks

I can understand what you are going through. Please email me to further discuss this.
Just be all: "Hey moms! I throw up after I eats my meals! WHAT NOW?! WHAT?!"
you could do it as a letter asking for understanding and support. You could explain what type of help you need ,whether you wish them to keep it silnet from others outside the family and how you wish to be treted(normal unless they are concerned they can let you know but shouldnt try to be our "police" or doctor) whatever you want...or have a family meeting and tell everyone face to face asking them to "just listen" Provide written materials for the to educate themselves as well
Something you mentioned about you won't be able to go back to it it you tell everyone.... Sounds like you would have a very supportive reaction, that is fantastic! Something like an eating disorder, needs guidance and help, and it is great you are seeking that! Maybe seek some counselling and set youself up to start! This way, when you approach someone they will take your plea for help seriously as you are already taking steps to help yourself! Start slow, one person at a time! You should be very proud of yourself for wanting to get better! Good for you!
