Why are you not supposed to take wellbutrin if you have a eating disorder?

Wellbutrin can lower the seizure threshold, meaning it can make you more prone to having seizures. Eating disorders, bullemia in particular - if my memory is correct - also result in lowering of the seizure threshold.

Consequently, there's a much greater risk of seizures when people with an eating disorder take Wellbutrin, so it's contra-indicated. Source(s): I'm a med student.
One of the side effects is weight loss, and luckily it helps with depression. The main reason to take Wellbutrin is to help you stop smoking............ I do not smoke but take it as a anti depressent
because its also used to help overweight people lose weight, its mainly used to make people stop smoking and for an anti depressant
idk but if you dont have an eating disorder theres nothing to worry about
It can cause seizures for people with eating disorders.
