How do I get people to stop questioning me...i don't have an eating disorder.? |
I am getting so frustrated at work. I am in my 20's, I work and go to school full time, I am happily married with 2 children. Somehow, in this crazy life, I find time to exercise regularly. I am at a healthy weight for my height- 115lb 5'4". Everyday, the women in my office ask me what I weigh, if I have lost more weight, tell me that I look too thin, etc. I just tell them that I haven't lost anything and that I'm at a healthy weight... one woman even goes as far as telling me what kinds of problems I will have if I continue to starve myself. They watch what I eat like hawks. I usually have soup or a salad and occasionally I'll eat something else. I have a really busy job... I don't have time to snack. I absolutely do not have an eating disorder. I did lost 40 lbs about 5 years ago to get to where I am now with weight watchers but they didn't even know me then. What can I do to make them stop- it makes me miserable. There are even rumors going around that I'm bulemic. well i can understand that coz i get that 2. im average weight 4 my height which is short but since im soo small ppl think i hav an eating disorder. but u no wut u just gotta ignore them. That is so rude; they are just jealous that you are thin! Tell them to back off and do their jobs! Let people say what they want to say. In life, people will always gossip to make conversation and for themselves to feel superior. If you're not bulimic, that's great. Denying it usually makes it worse. Stick it out - they're just jealous. Tell them that this is what the doctors claim to be healthy and state your BMI. Then fly though the room and explain how easy it is to move without extra fat holding you back. tell them you do not have in eating disorder, and it isn't really any of their concern even if you do. tell them you are busy, and according to the world, your at a very healthy weight for your height.tell them if they have a problem with your weight, there welcome to go look up BMI on-line and figure it out themselves. tell them your happy the way you are, and your not changing for anybody. if they keep this up, you can tell your boss that their harassing you, and making it hard for you to work efficiently. oh ya and while your at it, tell them to GROW UP. gosh thats so Jr.high! or you could mess with them and say your a runway model when ur not at work =] or you could say you have a medical problem, and your being treated, and you dont wanna talk about it. i can't believe that though, that is really rude. i would be extemely upset if someone walked up to me and told me that. >=| Sounds to me like, "the lady doth protest too much!" Shakespeare's way of saying you are probably in denial. You look hungry. Eat something. Seriously,, ask your co-workers what is eating them! Tell them you will not discuss your weight. If you are bulimic get some help. Everyone can be wrong, but that is very rare. they're not going to stop. they probably want to be as healthy as you are. they could also be genuinely worried about your well-being, as you are right on the cusp of a healthy body weight. try answering their questions patiently (sorry if you alrady tried that), with a smile and honesty. tell them what you posted here about exercising and being healthy, and that it offends you that they are constantly on you about having an eating disorder. crazy as it sounds, (non-defensive) honesty is the best policy! |
