Why is body image so important in our society today. Especially for teens girls. Why eating disorder in girls

ok hi im a 21 year old australian and i ask the same question... I dont care about my image "well i do' BUT i dont really if u no what i mean? im thin and eat myself to the limit but i cannot put the weight on i hate seeing other girls who are excatly the size i want to be, it makes me feel sooo skinny ,but at the same time i make them feel soo fat,WHY, i dont no , and yes girls thrive on their looks, body and whole image for the guys not for themselfs they arnt being themselfs they are being what guys want them to be/look like but yeah i had to say that
I wish there was a true answer to that question. And that exact reason is why there are so many eating disorders in girls, becuase they have this horrible society ridden image of thereselves, when usually they are perfectly fine.
it's the fault of media firstly. Also their parents should teach them to appreciate themselves and concentrate on more important things in life. There is no universal size.
This is due largely to the media. Advertisements and other things always emphasize that beauty is good. Female characters are often made with much more beautiful appearances than average, making girls feel that they are below average.
