My best friend has an eating disorder and weighs around 6 stone, and being around her?

makes me feel fat, even though it shouldnt. Last year she used to have a figure to die for, but she never saw it that way & started starving herself & excising for 1 hour a day. I was always there for her, and i used to spend most of my time with her. She went down to 6 stone, and become very unhealthy. i weigh 12 stone, which i know myself isnt healthy, but its all beacause i lost my mum & nan and started eating for my depression. Being around my 6 stone friend makes me feel fat, and makes me look at myself and feel sick. I dont want to get an eating disorder like her. What do i do?

wow. eating disorders are really hard to cope with. believe me. i have suffered with one for the longest time.
its not healthy
your bones wear away, you lose your hair, you get lightheaded. you even lose people that you care about most

sweetheart...the way that you seem to care so much for your friend shows how great a person you are. you are seriously an inspiration for me.

you do not need to lose weight in an unhealthy way by an eating disorder. talk to your doctor and ask them what they suggest.

but remember
you are a beautiful person who is so caring. don't ever change.
and if you want to lose weight...make sure you do so in a healthy way that is recommended by your doctor and you do it only for yourself...not anyone else.

i'm sorry i couldn't help that much. but...stay strong!
The easiest way to avoid having an eating disorder is not to start having an eating disorder. You already know that your friend has a problem. It's a problem that you can't solve for her, she has to find a way out of it with professional help and guidance. But you are still at a point where you have not acquired an eating disorder.

Rather than concentrate on your overall weight, focus on a healthy lifestyle. Make sure you make healthy food choices, exercise and don't look at food as a way to compensate for anything but hunger and some enjoyment from the meal. In other words, don't eat because you're depressed. Get out there and take a walk and exercise when you're depressed. That will do two things, increase your endorphins that will make you feel happier, and it will help you be more healthy.
