HELP! I have an eating disorder but have nobody to support me?

I have some kind of eating disorder. I've only just admitted it to myself. I'm not sure what type but i need support and my mum is not the supportive type and we don't get on. I feel really depressed because i can't turn to anyone. I've pushed all my friends away. What do i do?

My problem is (I'm not underweight I'm average weight for my height) but i starve myself for a few days to a week. Then i binge on food, then i starve again. I just want to learn to eat healthy and exercise well but i can't break the cycle I'm in at the moment =(

Hey there,
I know the feeling - I've been there.
First step... you do need to seek some professional help. Its a hard step to make I know but it really does help. Your GP is a good place to start but make sure you have a GP you feel comfortable with. Otherwise - look round till you find one you're comfortable with. I had a GREAT GP and I don't know what I would've done without her.
Then, it's highly likely she'll recommend you see a counsellor, and put you on anti-depressants. These things both help a lot. (You may have already done all the above but I thought I'd mention it anyway cos it's really important).

Ok, then... With the support thing, I was in the same boat - my mom & I don't get on at all and she's def. not the supportive type... I found my support in my GP, my counsellor, my anti-depressants (no! I didn't get hooked on them if that's what you're thinking!! :) They just helped lift my mood a bit and think a bit more rationally), and by REACHING OUT TO THE FRIENDS I PUSHED AWAY. I swallowed my pride, told them sorry for pushing them away, explained to them I had an ED and that even tho I pushed them away, I did still underneath treasure their freindship and could we renew it. They were sweet and I have solid f/ships now because I made that move. It was hard but worth it.

OK... then the final thing that supported me was this GREAT forum where ANYONE with ANY sort of eating disorder/difficulty can post their probs/achievements or help someone else etc etc. I found it so helpful. I really recommend this site:

http://fishyvb.something-fishy.org/...

Please go and have a look round the site... there are thousands of people there who have been thru what you're going thru and will offer advice and support and there are others who are currently going thru the same thing.
Definitely worth it.

Hope this helps and wish you luck in 'breaking your cycle' and finding the way to living a healthy life :) Source(s): Had anorexia, bulimia & bdd for 5 years. Recovered & loving life :)

How old are you? Are you in high school or college? I highly recommend talking with a school counselor if you have one available.

When I was 16 I went through a very similar situation. I would only eat certain foods and throw up the rest. It is a very difficult habit to break. Just know that there are people out there who have been through this and can help you cope.

I recommend taking it one day at a time. Set a small goal for yourself. For example: say that on Monday you are going to make a positive change. Keep repeating that to yourself all day. Plan out what food you are going to eat on Monday only. When you have eaten each item, check it off. Do it slowly. Even if you start out with only a few items, it's OK. Take baby steps. Do this every day. Write down everything you eat.

Also start walking or riding a bike regularly. I would do it at least 30 mins a day. You don't have to run, just walk. Enjoy nature, I mean really look around you and see the beauty of the world. Look at the trees and the flowers and wonder how they came to exist. This will help to calm you and take your mind off of everything. Remember: A healthy body begins with a healthy mind!

Good Luck!
please ask your mom to get you some professional help and look into support groups. You will meet other people probably close to your age, who are going through the same thing and they will understand. I'm sure your mom loves you very much but she doesn't understand b/c she has never been through it and doesn't understand what your going through.
best of luck, sweetie!
Sounds like you have some other issue - are you sad about something? Do you have low self esteem? Is there a lot of social pressure where you live to fit in, to look like the girls in the magazines? Maybe you are trying to get your mom's attention, but starving yourself is not the answer. There are lots of websites out there that can help you. This website says they are an Eating Disorder referral service. http://www.edreferral.com/ Or this one has good info too! http://www.mirror-mirror.org/

Hang in there - you have taken the first step in admitting it to yourself. Now you just need to find out what is causing you to hurt yourself and take baby steps to start feeling better about yourself!
