well if u get admitted to hospital from an eating disorder or suicide attempt in Australia do u have to go to a meantal hospital for a long time if ur a teenager (15) ?? thanks suicide attempts usually lead to anywhere from two to six weeks of suicide watch in a hospital ward, and can extend further when you go home, suicide watch basically means you are kept under surveillance by a nurse constantly, you cant eat, shower, go to the bathroom alone and have to eat with childrens cutlery which are to be taken from you afterwards, its a terrible process.
As for eating disorder, they cant keep you unless you are a risk to yourself, like suicide attempts though it often leads to enforced counselling at an adolescent mental health clinic.
Parents get a say in this process, but as a youth, you do not. Its most likely you would,especially for a suicide attempt,not sure about eating disorder though. |
