Anyone w/ an eating disorder...hav people in your family who are overweight??

just wonderin.
because i have a LOT of people in my family who are overweight and ALWAYS talk about how fat they are 24/7and how theyre gonna start an excerise/diet but never do.

I think that almost everyone knows someone with a weight problem these days. Exercise and diet ARE the answer, but there are hidden demons in the diet arena. One is white sugar. It goes into the blood quickly and kicks off the insulin cycle, which just makes you hungry again, no matter how much you've eaten. It's a losing battle. The next three make it impossible to lose weight. They are high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated and partially oils (of any kind). Plan on some extra time for your next visit to the super market to read the ingredients on packaged foods, especially in the cookie/cracker aisle and frozen food section. Vitually every product has these "ingredients" in them. There is nothing in nature like these things and they have been banned in Europe for around 30 years. European companies, like Nestle, the world's largest food manufacturer, sends products to the United States with these genetically modified substances in them, but not to European countries. When this glop gets to your liver, it says, "What the hell is that?", then turns it into bad, bad fat and releases it into the blood stream, causing, among other things, obesity and heart diseases.
Step one: start reading labels and eliminate these things from your life. Period.
Step two: Choose an alternative to processed, white sugar. You can google natural sugar alternatives. The two that I like the most are Sucanat and agave nectar. Sucanat is 100% natural and, basically, is what is turned into processed sugar. But, all of the naturally occuring ingredients, including a mild amount of molasses, is still in it. In this extremely natural, unprocessed form, it enters the blood more slowly and doesn't kick in the insulin cycle, so you don't get hungry from it. It costs a tad more than regular sugar, but the price difference is priceless. Sucanat is used just like sugar and tastes really good. Agave nectar is a mild, organic syrup and not quite as potent as honey. It's delicious in teas, on hot cereals and pancakes. You can find both at health food stores, or health food sections of some markets, or on line.
There's also another hidden factor in dieting...something no one tells anyone and that is that, for a while, at least, you have to get used to and comfortable with that hungry feeling in your stomach. That's a real hump to get over. Keeping a bottle of water nearby is a good habit to develop.
And, of course, exercise that is appropriate for your age and physical condition is important. We hear it so often that it becomes background noise, but you can't have one without the other. Good luck!

PS: If your doctor prescribes any drugs, your first question should be, "Is that a statin drug?" If he or she says "Yes", run like hell. Google "Statin drugs" and you will see what I mean...

i had an eating disorder..
and yes there is like a few people in my family that are over weight,
but most of them are slim.

Don't worry about your family, just worry about yourself. You are an individual person and you have your own mind. You can be the one to show you are going to start a new family tradition....being fit and healthy! AND happy. Even if you have genes that lead toward being overweight, don't stress out about it...that's the WORST thing you can do. Stay fit, eat healthy and don't try to make yourself stick thin. You may never achieve it, and even if you do...you may be miserable. Being fit, healthy and happy is the best solution. Love yourself! This is the only life you will have, it's not a dress rehearsal, so make the best of what you have. Good luck and God bless you.

i do have an ed and yes, i do have an obese aunt and several relatives who are overweight. i would never wish an ed on them. atleast they are fine with how they are
