Can c-sections be the cause of endometriosis??

or for making it spread??
is it worse to have in someplaces verses others?
can you have a baby without all the specialists if you have endometriosis??

i know that c-sections arent the ONLY cause...but im wondering if they ''can be'' one of the causes??
can they cause it?

While C-section is not actually a cause of the disease per se, iatrogenic transplantation (literally - "doctor caused") is one way in which Endo can be exacerbated and (certainly) caused in the umbilicus. It doesn't typically happen that often, because of the precautions taken during the C-section, but is still common to the Endo community. Of course, it doesn't explain why women or girls have Endo in the first place, but it can cause it to be located in an area that otherwise may not have been affected.

It is not necessarily worse or better to have Endo in any specific location; it all hurts and can cause all kinds of frustrations, pain and potential complications. However, a lower stage of disease that might be confined, say to the pelvic sidewall and superficially on one ovary, for example, is "better" to have than, for example, stage 4 disease with an obliterated pelvis and multiple organ involvement. But it's all relative - pain is pain and complications of the disease are relative to the woman or girl's experience.

Endo is a leading cause of infertility and pregnancy loss, BUT with proper treatment (i.e. surgical removal), chances greatly increase for conceiving naturally. It doesn't necessarily require or guarantee the need for reproductive endocrinologist or IVF intervention.

Hope that helps a bit.

definitely not

Some people who have never had children have endometriosis, so definitely c-sections are not the cause.

Some places are worse than others, you might need help conceiving, and you might not. It all depends on the sight and severity.

EDIT: from all my schooling and my experience in the medical field, a c-section will not directly cause endometriosis.

EDIT: Yes, endometriosis can be spread through a surgical procedure such as a c-section.

"At the time of a C-section, pieces of the uterine lining could be transplanted in the incision and start growing. In a recent study of 56 cases of endometriosis in surgical sites, almost half of the cases followed a C-section. These lesions cause local cyclical pain and, on occasion, even cyclical bleeding. Treatment is obviously surgical removal of the involved area."

"Endometrial tissue can spread during surgery. The most common example of surgical spread is endometriosis which is found in the abdominal wall following a C-Section. Endometriosis has also been reported in the belly button. This usually presents with bleeding from the navel with menses."
