Endometriosis? Depo Shot? Pregnancy? |
I found out in October that I have endometriosis. I have always had really bad pains and gotten sick, so its hard to tell how long I have had it. I had laproscopy to try to remove the endo, but within 6 months I was back to the way I was before the surgery and even worse. So I have tried the highest dose birth control pill. It didn't work. So now I am trying the Depo shot. Does this shot work for people?? Does it cause pregnancy issues? I am only 22 so we want to have children but in like 3 years. I am just looking for some good advice from someone that has gone through this before. Any advice that you could give me would be much appreciated. Thanks. I am pretty sure its the Depo-Provera shot. The Lupron shot will put you into a pre-menapausal (sp?) state correct? I know I did not get the shot that puts me into a pre-menapausal state. I got the depo shot that will stop my ovaries from working while I am on it which will reduce the amount of hormones that affect the endo. Hey there! I was 21 when I found out I had endo and I can relate to exactly how you are feeling. My laproscopy went well but months later my doctor put me on the Depo Lupron shot. This shot did put me through menopose and yes I had the night sweats and mood swings, but my endo pains went away and I felt like a new person. However, I went through 6 months of this and started bleeding again (the shot wasn't shutting my system down like it was suppose to) plus I had lost so much bone mass that I could no longer stay on it. It's a great shot and very expensive and I wish I could still be on it. As for the Depo Provera? My doctor wanted to put me on that next and I said Hell No! You put on a lot of weight, you can still get pregnant (I know people that have) and if you have migraines like I do it will trigger them badly. I personally would never be on this medication. Currently, I'm on a birth control called Lybrel. The FDA recently approved it in September of 2007. My periods are less frequent and the pain is NOT nearly as bad and its not too expensive. I'd reccommend trying that. However if your endo is as bad as mine, in 9 months you'll be seeking a specialist to help you. I wish you the best! What kind of Depo shot? |
