Coping with endometriosis ?

the doctor has said i have endometriosis, i have to have a few test to back up diagnosis for years doctors have said it this or that its only now some one is doing something about it as it has become unbearable.

i know you can be given hormones to get rid of it or have it lasered off, i would prefare to have it lasered as i dont really like taking medication containing hormones if i can help it. also i have read it can make you mascaline.

(TMI WARNING)
these last few weeks the bleeding and pain has become quite bad also the blood i lose during the month is different from the blood i lose in a period as it is darker in colour (but not old blood) it contains a lots of small clots. i havent seen my doc lately to tell her this as i was waiting til i have had my tests

ive also been feeling sick with it and so tired it affecting my marrage my life my work. i feel i shouldnt be like this im only 23. a friend told me about her daughter suffering and said have a hystrectomy if offered (as i have had all my children) she said her daughter really suffers but wants more children.

also in the last 6 months i have lost almost 2 stone in weight without dieting or changing lifestyle could this be linked.

if anyone has any advide on how to get through these next few months whilst waiting for my tests/results i would be gratefull

I sympathise as I have had this for 10 years now. I had my first laproscopy 10 years ago but mine was attached to blood vessels so they couldn't laser. So I had the tablets which worked for a while, then I had another laproscopy and there were able to laser some, they also lasered legions off my ovaries - I am much better now, so if they can laser that would be the best option. Although the only permanent option would be a hysterectomy but I doubt very much you would be offered that at such a young age.

You need to keep on at the doctor and hospital to ensure that this is sorted as soon as possible for you. I also had a course of injections called prostap, which sent me into a temporary "menopause" they didn't work for me but I know that they do have a lot of success.

Good luck.

The most accurate test for endometriosis is a laparoscopy, a minor surgery with 2 or 3 small puncture wounds into the abdomen. A small scope or camera inserted into the abdomen can view internal organs and visualize endometriosis. If there is endometriosis, usually right then and there they can laser it and get rid of alot of it. I experienced great relief from this, however it usually only lasted about 9 months before reoccuring. I had 3 laparoscopies for endometriosis in 6 years because I wanted children. When I finally did have a baby I did have a hysterectomy and finally felt better than I had in years. Be very grateful that you did have kids, endometriosis can and did cause infertility problems for me.
