Endometriosis, what does the pain feel like?

Can it be a sudden attack that comes on during menstration and then have lingering pain for days from the stomach muscles?

Hi Robin
The pain varies for each person. It can occur as a sudden attack (in fact all of my endo related "cramps" and stomack pains happen like that.

It can also happen at any time during your menstrual cycle so yes, that could well be related to endo.

Lingering pain - I guess this depends on what type of pain you're talking about (and you have to remember that each person is different). For me, I get short, sharp intense pain that lasts "full on" for about 20-30 minutes and it is then tender for a couple of hours later.

I can also feel tender and a little sore at other times, but that type of pain can happen without the "sudden attack".

If you think you have endo, check it out with your doctor and do a bit of research before you go. I've found that there is a lot of 'technical information' out there however there are some easy read information found on sites like www.yourendometriosisonline.com

Some other symptoms that may indicate you've got endo include:
* lower abdominal pain,
* diarrhea and/or constipation,
* low back pain,
* irregular or heavy menstrual bleeding, or
* blood in the urine.

Diet and Nutrition play a big part in any pain with menstration and particularly with Endo.
Hope things get better for you.]
