Epilepsy????

I got hit on the head a while ago and since have been passing out and according to friends and my brothers i have been twitching - I have been to the doctor and been referred to a specialist though i am scared of doctors and was wondering if anyone knew what might happen or how they test for epilepsy, also IF i do what happens then???

Epileptic seizures are triggered by abnormalities in the brain that cause a group of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex to become activated simultaneously, emitting sudden and excessive bursts of electrical energy. A seizure's effect depends on the location in the brain where this electrical hyperactivity occurs. Effects range from brief moments of confusion to minor spasms to loss of consciousness.

Don't be afraid!!!!, being afraid and scared is the worst thing you can do to yourself. I had epilepsy and been over it since my operation so I know what you are living with. When you get tested for epilepsy you will have EEG's and possibly MRI's done. Once they see if it is epilepsy you have ,the Dr will put you on medication to control the seizures. I have gone through lots of EEG's and MRI's so don't worry, you will be helped by having those tests done.

hey i no wat ur talking about my brother has epilepsy and me and my mother watch him very carefully.....if you do have epilepsy it's not as bad but i recommend that you should go to a nuerologist because...1:if you don't you can never get better.....2:you should always have someone take care of you every once and a while or someone to check on you once and a while one question:Do you have someone very close to you?If you do make a copy of your key because that way that person very close to you can check on you and yes i know i said it a million times but it's the right idea or if you have a wife/husband make sure they have enough time to be with you and when there not there your friend or the person very close can come over...3:if i were you and i had epilepse i would keep track of my seizures because sometimes people with epilepse have seizures...i still don't know why my brother has seizures but alot of doctors don't know whhy epileptic people have seizures. although i still would keep track because that way i would find out when i might get my next seizuer.I might not know the exact day and time and moment but atleast i'll know the month and also i'll try to spend my life normally because having epilepse doesn't destroy your life it's just a obstacle in life that you shouldn't let it get to you so get on with your life and be happy and don't give excuses i know it's harder than it sounds but you'll find a way.Oh and did i mention it'll be hard at first when you find out but sooner or later you'll find a way.One more thing go to the nuerologist to get treatment and medications to control your epilepse and seizures. Well they will give you an MRI scan, then an EEG and if u have it then they will put you on a daily pill depending on which type of epilepsy u have. I cant remember which type i have but I take one epilim pill in the morning and one in the evening.

don't worry, i grew into epilepsy when i was 10 and am now 23. testing is eeg, where they put wires all over your head to see your brain waves. there are also cat scans, mris, and hospital studies to determine how you act in the seizure. the will most likely test you out on a number of drugs be for they find the right drug for you. it took them 7 years to find mine. just relax and do as your doctor says and the problem will get resolved.

The best thing for you to do is let them run the EEG and MRI so you have an answer. There is no real "test", like a blood test with a definitive answer, but at least you will know more than you do now. I got hit in the head-it gave me a concussion-three days later I had a stroke (I was 32 years old)-I have had seizures(epilepsy) ever since. It is a pain to take medicine every day and have to go to the doctor, but it would be a lot worse to live with seizures and the complications that come with them! Do what is best for your health and take care of this quickly! God bless!
