My girlfriend has a health problem, for the last 5 years she's had epilepsy.? |
She is 34 years old and 2 years ago she had a stroke. She can't drive, doesn't date anymore and spends all her time at home with her parents. I've known her now for over 10 years and I'm 30 years old and married. Back in our early twenties we used to hang out a lot and go to clubs, date like crazy and just have fun. My girlfriend takes over 20 medications a day - they do not help her. Her seizures have actually gotten worse. I can't believe the first three people to answer this question didn't realize your friend was on medication. That's the first thing they do for people with epilepsy - drug them up. My mom has epilepsy and she takes madicine that works for her. She is fine and functions fine now if she doesnt take her meds then she has seizures. But if she takes her meds she lives a normal life. If i were you i would inform her that there is medicine that can help her. But she will have to try the ones they give her and if they dont work then try another type of meds. Now if she has done this alreasy witch she probably has you need to pray for her. An pray with her. That is a lot for someone her age to go through. Why don't you invite her over to your house? At least then if something happens both of you would be in a familiar environment. She needs you now more than ever and you should be there for her. Imagine yourself in her shoes. You do need to explain to her that you don't have as much time to spend with her as she would like. If she is as good of a friend as you think she will understand. Wow! A tough one. I had a tumor removed from my brain 6 years ago too and I have seizures unless I dont take Dylatin to stop the seizuires. My doctor told me to keep taking my medicine and stay away from stress, then I will be alright. Perhaps your friend needs to simply take medicine to stop the seizures? Get her to go back to the Doc and ask if medicine will stop the seizures? If the Doc cant help her, tell her to get a second opinion. After that, if the Doc's say the meds won't help, you are going to have a tough decision to diss your friend or not. Hope this helps. |
