Should I play football if I was diagnosed with Epilepsy?

Im 13 years old and going into the 8th grade. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy but I havent had a siezure in 4 years. I want to play Middle Linebacker on my school's football team. Should I play football?

Ask your doctor, not a bunch of retards on the web.

Who really knows what a hard impact can do to a condition like that. You are already prone to neurological problems as evidenced by your epilepsy. From what I know about head injuries and epilepsy impact or concussion can make it much worse. There are many risk factors when you already have a condition. The only one who can tell you if it's safe for you to participate or not is a doctor or specialist.

Look up information on Jets guard(former Pittsburgh guard) Alan Faneca. I read something on him having Epilepsy so you might need to search that up and check it out.

No I would not want to take that chance. Go to a neulogist and get cleared to play if he/she does.

You might want to try some other sport that more safe like golf or something.

Whew... tough call. Ask your parents, your coach and you doctor.

a head injury could trigger a seizure, do you want to take that chance
