Photosensitive epilepsy? What medications are typically used and are effective? What are your experiences? I have Photosensitive Epilepsy. I've had it since I was six years old. The flashing lights at the fair, strobes, some computer games, etc will set it off. I used to be on Phenobarbital for years and it worked great, but there are so many new medications with less side effects on the market now. There's Keppra, Lamectal (that's what I take now) Topamax, Toradol, etc. You need to talk to your neurologist and see which would be the best for you. Good Luck! |

Some epileptic dogs can easily live a perfectly normal life like any other dog, with the proper treatment. I have an epileptic Australian Shepherd mix. Sasha was diagnosed with 'Idiopathic... Ive been on Keppra for a little over a year now. I was diagnosed with E at age 13, now I am 29. The only problems Ive had on Keppra are mood issues. I wouldnt say that what you are experiencing ... I had a cocker spaniel who had a few seizures. She was never diagnosed with epilepsy, but we took her to the vet every time she had a seizure, which was only about 2 times a year. It was so scary...
