Is this epilepsy? hard to diagnose?

So, basically about 2 or less years ago, I went unconscious and the witnesses said I made noises and jerky motions. The doctors assumed it was a seizure. Ever since then, nothing quite like that has happened, but I often feel lightheaded, sort of disconnected from reality, and just an overall weird feeling. I have read about similar epileptic things like that, such as auras or I think simple partial seizures. I am conscious, but I just kind of feel like I'm in a dream. It also feels like the episode I had before is going to happen again. I feel kind of tingly and my hands tremble. From your experience, do you think this is epilepsy? I have seen neurologists, and I had a test done (I think it was just an MRI) and it was either completely normal or there was nothing to be too worried about. Doctors pretty much say that they don't know whats wrong. If I had epilepsy, but did not frequently have tonic clonic seizures, just the small partial seizures, would it still be easily diagnosed? What do simple partial seizures feel like to you? I also forgot to say, I'm a 16 year old female. Thank you so much for any help!

Let me clarify- the doctor did not say I was okay, she just didn't know what to do. Okay, PJ, so, when you "just pass out", do you make noises and jerky movements?

from what you are describing to me, it sounds like petti mal epilepsy, you can get a feeling, inside your head that something is coming on, i used to get them when i was younger,
when i was younger i noticed that certain colours seemed to effect me, silver, gold, white, royal blue, would bring one on,
the only colour that ever stopped the feeling would be red,

also, you could be photosensitive, that can also trigger them off,

watching tv, playing games on tv, light bulbs, daylight, sunlight,
head lights, shop lights, all different, types, when out shopping,

no shops have the same lighting, remember that one,

i am photosensitive, and icannot watch any tv 1st thing in the
morning at all, it hurts my eyes,
it is all down to the brightness, it could be affecting you with your laptop, no saying it is, but , it could happen.

that is why, people with epilepsy, are not supposed to use them, it can bring on fits,

luckily i have been seizure free now for over 5 years, touch wood.

i hope this does not affect any others , in the same way,

as it did me, when i was young.

good luck , fingers x. for you.

If the doctors said you were okay - then you probably are. Just experiencing normal teenage weirdness. Lots of people feel disconnected from time to time. If you had epilepsy - it probably would have shown up before you were 14, and you would have more problems with it. Just because you pass out once doesn't mean you have epilepsy. Lots of teenagers WANT to believe there is something wrong with them.

I think it's quite difficult to diagnose, its easy to get it wrong.
In the past few years, I've suffered from a couple visual seizures; i.e. my field of vision narrows, colours go crazy and i go very cold.
A couple doctors diagnosed me as epileptic and susceptible to flashing lights, but I've only ever suffered at gigs; looking at flashing lights does absolutely nothing.

So yeah, I think it's easy to mistake it for something else.

proabley not epilepsy ..try sitting infront of a strobe light and see if that cause you to have a seizure...have someone standing by so that you dont die . Often flashing light of any kind can bring on one.

Epilepsy can be difficult to diagnose. I'm 25, I've had a history of seizures my whole life, but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 18. You could be having seizures, since just about anything could cause a seizure (not just flashing lights). It's actually harder to diagnose epilepsy if you are having small partial seizures because the signs can be harder to recognize. There really isn't anything they can do until either a doc decides to put you on anti seizure meds or until someone sees you have one. The MRI is done to make sure there is no physical abnormality, such as a hemorrage or tumor--but they probably wouldn't find anything after a normal seizure.
