Can Tegretol cause epilepsy? |
I take 1 pill of tegretol (i think thats 100mg) for my depression. Its used mainly for epilepsy and I've heard that if you don't have it, and take latge amounts of tegretol, you can start having seizures. Is that true? And how much more tegretol would I have to take? Tegretol is used for both epilepsy and depression. It is a old drug and one of the safer ones to use.You will not have seizures or even be more prone to them, taking it. You are on a very low dose that should not even feel any adverse effects from it,if your concerned about higher doses don't be ,I took 600mg. a day and never had any side effects except weight gain. Are you bipolar ? If so you will find that most of the drugs they give you for it are have multi purpose such as this. Ok...something is wrong here. Tegretol is an anticonvulsant and specific analgesic, it is not an antidepressant. |
