Melasma from estrogen pills?

i started taking premarin about 18 months ago and have developled dark spots on both sides of my neck (actually it looks almost like dirt)...very embarrassing..it is called melasma. has anyone else had this and if so, does cutting the dosage help for these to go away or is this permanent? (i've already paid $1,800 to a dermatologist to "laser" them away). it didn't work.

I'VE ALWAYS USED 50 OR HIGHER SUNBLOCK.

i got mines from microgestin...i had to switch to other birth control...i have mines between my boobs and on my neck. When I went to the doctor..she told me in most cases its permanent because its caused by hormones..it suxx cuz on my neck ppl think its hickeys. I've searched the internet and i got the same results...its permanent...and to put sun block on it because the sun can produce more and cause it to get darker

I used to work in a derm office. Melasma (also know as hyper-pigmentation and "the mask of pregnancy") is caused by hormonal changes and certain skin types (genetic component) are most susceptible to it. We prescribed Tri-Luma, which worked ok for most patients. Drawbacks are cost, (around $100 a tube, not covered by insurance) and un-natural ingredients-"Fluocinolone is a steroid. It reduces inflammation or swelling.
Hydroquinone topical is a skin bleaching agent.
Tretinoin topical is a form of vitamin A. It helps the skin to renew itself more quickly."
Getting good reviews and all natural is a fairly new product
called Melacor. A doctor will never tell you about it since it doesn't require a prescription.
